Mark Smith, PT - Local Clinic Operator

Mark is a graduate of the University of Minnesota; School of Physical Therapy. He also attended St. John's University in Collegeville, Minnesota where he majored in Natural Science-Biology with a minor in Athletic Training. Mark specializes in the areas of Sports Medicine, Industrial Rehab, Orthopedics, and Vestibular Rehabilitation. Mark performs on-site rehabilitation and ergonomic assessments at area businesses, as well as working closely with local schools.

Mark is passionate about applying his experience and education to help people recover from an accident or injury. His goal is to assist his patients in achieving their rehab goals and return to their previous level of daily activity. Committed to providing the best possible treatment and care, Mark works closely with referring physicians to address the individual needs of his patients.


Peggy Martin, PT, CEAS-III, Physical Therapist

Peg joined Rice Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists in January 2013. With over 20+ years of experience in outpatient orthopedic physical therapy, her goal is for each patient to get back to doing the things they love most.

Peg received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Concordia College and her Bachelor's in Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Minnesota. In addition to her degrees held, Peg is also certified in ASTYM®, which assists in regenerating soft tissue and relieves pain caused by scar tissue.

Peg attends numerous continuing education courses to remain current on therapy trends for her patients. Her main focus has been on shoulder dysfunction, osteoporosis, foot and ankle pain and gait analysis.

In addition, Peg brings an industrial flavor to Rice Lake PTRS as she is certified in ergonomic analysis (CEAS-III). This certification allows her to perform job site analyses, functional capacity evaluations, work hardening/work conditioning programs, and on-site assessments. Through this specialty, Peg is able to ensure the quickest and safest recovery for an injured worker. In her spare time, Peg enjoys cooking, gardening, book clubs, and spending time with family and friends at her cabin.


Beth Brown, PT - Physical Therapist

Beth joined Rice Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists in March 2013. She is a skillful practitioner in orthopedic physical therapy and has extensive experience with all orthopedic diagnoses. However, her special interests lie in aquatic therapy and sports performance enhancement.

Beth is a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN and the Mayo Clinic Program in Physical Therapy in Rochester, MN. She has 30+ years of experience primarily in outpatient private practice physical therapy, developing aquatic therapy and aquatic group exercise for patient treatment in the last 12 years.

Beth remains current with therapy trends and has attended numerous continuing education courses with emphasis on aquatic therapy, functional training, manual therapy, and geriatric exercise.

Beth is a strong believer in teaching her patients the skills they need to improve and to then maintain a healthy and pain-free lifestyle. In order to offer an additional way to accomplish this, Beth brought the specialty of aquatic therapy to Rice Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists.

In her free time, Beth enjoys biking, kayaking, stand-up paddle boarding, and snowshoeing with her husband and two children.


Emily Monson, PT - Director of Clinical Operations

Emily's career in private practice began with her employment with Rice Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialist when she joined the team in February of 2005. She began working as a staff physical therapist alongside Mark Smith, PT, learning the details and design of private practice, expanding into her own communities in Turtle Lake and Clear Lake, WI in 2005 and 2009. In August 2014, Emily returned to the Rice Lake practice to direct the administrative functions and work closer with this team again while continuing to direct and practice as a physical therapist in Clear Lake and Turtle Lake.

Emily has a large passion for business and enjoys the focus of intricate details it requires on a daily basis. She feels that administrative operations have a large impact on a patient's experience. Proper scheduling, authorization and communication with doctors and insurance companies ensures each visit runs smoothly for each patient. Emily's goal is to further grow and develop the practice, as well as facilitate a more seamless integration between all of our network clinics in Hayward, Spooner, Clear Lake and Turtle Lake.

Emily received her Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse Physical Therapy program in 2000, finding professional interest in orthopedics, sports medicine and industrial rehabilitation. In addition, Emily is a Certified Industrial Specialist which has provided career development in work injury management, on-site injury prevention strategies with area businesses, ergonomic training, and specialized testing for the injured worker.


Stacie Fostvedt - Front Desk Coordinator

Stacie has been with the Rice Lake Physical Therapy and Rehab Specialists family since we opened our doors in 2003. Her number one goal is to provide every patient with exceptional customer service. Stacie prides herself on making patients feel warm and welcome, and strives to have each person leave their treatment sessions with a smile. She manages all administrative functions of the practice including scheduling patients and ensuring visits are authorized by insurance companies. When not with patients, Stacie acts as a clinical liaison to referring physicians.

Stacie is an original native of Rice Lake, graduated from Rice Lake Senior High School and received her certification as a Nursing Assistant from WITC. Following her schooling and prior to the practice's founding, she worked as a nursing assistant for 6 years alongside Clinic Operator, Mark Smith. Stacie's medical background greatly compliments her excellence in the administrative functions as she holds a fuller understanding of the billing and documentation requirements needed to meet insurance standards. From the moment you call to schedule your appointment to the day you graduate, Stacie will ensure your visits run smoothly.

In her spare time, Stacie enjoys camping, boating, four-wheeling and spending time with her family. In addition she is a strong Packer fan, and can be found either live at the games or in front of her TV screen every time the team plays.


Andrea Elwood, PTA

Andrea graduated from Chippewa Valley Technical College in Eau Claire and is very excited to care for people in the community she grew up in and loves.

Before graduating, she gained thorough clinical experience at two of Rice Lake's sister clinics in the Northwood's. This experience affirmed Andrea's sincere interest in outpatient therapy, and she knew that she wanted to start a career in this area of rehab.

A lover of the Wisconsin Northwood's, she has a big interest in helping those here restore functionality so that they can get back to doing the activities they love. Andrea's rehabilitation interests include assisting those with balance and vestibular issues, as well as focusing on the older population. She is LSVT Big certified for Parkinson's disease. She is also passionate about participating in continuing education opportunities, especially in the areas of orthopedics and injury prevention.

In her free time, Andrea is an avid runner. She participates in six to eight half marathons and two full marathons per year. When not training and working hard to set personal records, she is most happy spending time with her husband and two daughters in the family's cabin.

Andrea is very excited to serve those in the Rice Lake community by delivering the most individualized and thorough rehabilitation care possible.


Jake Danielson, ATC/L

Jake joined the Rice Lake Physical Therapy & Rehab Specialists team as an Athletic Trainer in June 2016. Along with providing support in the clinic, Jake delivers care to athletes at the Rice Lake High School during practice hours and sporting events. In addition, he also spends time working at various area industries to assist injured workers in getting back to performing their job duties quickly and safely.

Jake attended the College of Minnesota State University of Moorhead where he graduated with his Bachelor of Science degree, double majoring in Athletic Training and Exercise Science in 2016. Through his vast education and experience, Jake has formed a special fascination with head injuries.

Jake is originally from Montevideo Minnesota and has relocated to the Rice Lake area. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors, biking and exploring!
